Update on Afghanistan
'There are lots of landmines'

Another problem is the landmines that were left after the war. Abdel has had training so he knows what to do if he walks into a mined area. 'We mark the places where we find mines with a bush or a rock,' he explains. 'Then we go and tell the people that clear mines what we've found.' This is very important as lots of people have been killed or injured by landmines.

'We hope life will be better'

Ahmed, 11, also thinks that life is better without the Taliban government. Education is very important to him. 'Before there were fewer children going to school here, but now there are lots. So we hope that that life will be better for us in the future.'

Many others hope so too. Christian Aid is working with other groups to help re-build homes and schools, and to give more power to women, who were stopped from doing lots of things for so many years. Building peace in Afghanistan is a very important, and a very big, task.
