Q: Where is Iraq?
A: Iraq is in the Middle East. 22.5 million people live there. Iraq is made up of people of different religions, but they are mainly Muslim. The capital city is Baghdad.
Q: Why did soldiers from Britain and the USA iinvade Iraq?
A: They thought that Iraq had dangerous weapons that could be used to attack other countries.
Q: How long did the war last?
A: From March to May 2003. The leader of Iraq, Saddam Hussein, was removed from power. He has now been captured by soldiers from the USA. Saddam caused suffering to many people when he was in power.
Q: What is happening now?
A: US and British forces are still in the country and people have been attacking them. This means the country is still unsafe for many people. Lots of Iraqi people are living without regular food, electricity and drinking water. Many are also not able to find jobs. There are lots of Iraqi refugees, inside of Iraq and in the countries that surround it, such as Jordan and Iran. Many of them can't go back to Iraq because it isn't safe or because they don't have homes there any more.
Alle, 10, lives in a poor area of the capital of Iraq, Baghdad. He is a Muslim and lives with his father, two brothers and a sister. Alle doesn't go to school and he can't read.
'I hope that one day I will be able to go to school,' he says.
