Fikir went to Ethiopia

The pots were really heavy!

Next, I went to visit a girl called Tigiste, to see what life is like for her. We walked in the hot sunshine to collect water. I had to carry a very heavy pot. It took ages and it made me think about what I have back home and how I take things like running water for granted.

The children were all really friendly

We then drove further into the countryside to meet some members of the Korayu tribe. It was very different from the rest of the country that I had seen and experienced. I was surprised by the children at the school we visited. They were all really friendly and the classes were very small. They spend more time doing speaking activities in class than at my school.

It was a quiet area with none of the noise or hustle and bustle of city life. The peacefulness of it gave me a chance to think about the trip. What had started out as a big adventure had given me a lot to think about. Especially the things that I had taken for granted at home, like television, running water and even being able to go to school.
