Joab's diary
Tuesday 6 August
When we got to Grenada, the first thing I noticed was the heat. We went to The Limes, where my grandma lives. I was really happy to see my cousins, aunts and uncles, as I hadn't seen them for so long.
Wednesday 7 August
I got up early and had a delicious Caribbean breakfast of breadfruit, fried plantain, home-made bread, fresh fruit juice and a cup of cocoa. Then we went to the Concord River for a swim, where I nearly drowned. Dad just laughed at me!
Afterwards, we went to Guave fishing town. It was nice seeing the fresh fish, but the smell was awful. We went to a local caf? to eat some fish and some roti. Then I went for a swim at Grand Anse beach, before the sun went down.

Thursday 8 August
Today we went to the Belmont Estate, where cocoa and spices are grown. I met some local children who help out there after school and in the holidays, to earn pocket money. I saw some African dances and joined in a game they were playing. I was also shown how cocoa is made from cocoa beans. Then we all went crayfish fishing.
Friday 9 August
It was my Gran's 80th birthday party today. There was a fire-eater who did the limbo dance. Limbo dancing is when you try to dance under a pole that gets lower and lower. It was good fun. My cousin Alex won.
