Tuesday 23 July
Today we flew to Mombasa. I was allowed to go into the pilot's cockpit and see the plane's controls. It was really cool. Then we drove to a nature reserve and I was excited to see all the animals. There were giraffes, crocodiles, monkeys, giant tortoises and hippos.
We were allowed to feed the giraffes!
Wednesday 24 July
We got up early to drive to a village called Bamba, where we went to a market. People were selling radios, fish, matches, pots and pans, lots of fruit and vegetables and water. The people who live in Bamba have to buy their water, or walk two miles to a water supply.
We met the family I was going to stay the night with. We played with catapults the children had made themselves. I'd never done this before, it was great. Then we had some ugali and meat to eat. Ugali is made from a plant called maize. I don't like it.
Thursday 25 July
Today we visited Bamba Primary School. I helped the children there do some sweeping. It felt strange as I wasn't used to doing jobs like that. The school was a lot bigger than my school. Then we drove to a village where I helped plough a field. Two oxen were pulling the plough. I also had a go at herding goats. It was quite difficult.
Friday 26 July
I got up early and ran along the beach. Then I had my first swim in ages. The sea was cold and green. After dinner we watched a show which had magicians, circus acrobats, fire-eaters and dancers. The fire-eaters were great but my favourites were the acrobats because they did lots of amazing tricks.
Tuesday 30 July
Our last day with the film crew. I was tired and glad it was all over!
