It's bananas
Carina, 11, lives on a huge banana plantation which stretches for miles around. Her dad works on the plantation, cutting down heavy banana bunches. It's tough work, and he doesn't get paid much for it.
What's more, the bananas are sprayed with harmful chemicals, which Carina can smell as she walks home through the banana plantation from the packing warehouse.
Rules should make sure that Carina and her dad aren't at risk from being poisoned
'Many people fall ill from the chemicals', says Carina, 'that's why they spray them from planes. Dad always tells us children to be careful in the plantations, so that we don't get any of that poison on us.'
Carina and her friends play in the plantations. There's nowhere else to go.
