Worrying weather
Most of the disasters we report on have been the result of terrible weather. This bad weather could have been caused by global warming.
Global warming is caused by polluting gases from factories and cars. These gases, mostly carbon dioxide, trap the heat around the earth and stop it escaping into space. This is sometimes called the greenhouse effect because the gases are acting like the glass in a greenhouse, which means the earth's atmosphere is gradually getting hotter. This is enough to affect the weather all over the world.
There are likely to be more world disasters if we don't do something to tackle this problem and stop global warming now. What's more, countries like the USA and the UK use the most energy and produce most of these gases, but poor countries like Mozambique and Ethiopia are worst affected by the terrible weather which follows that's not fair! And the problem is getting worse. Out of the last 14 disasters that Christian Aid has helped with, 12 have been the result of very bad weather conditions
